Nacmo recently announced that it is releaseing an arcade installment of the popular Mario Kart racing series this fall in Japan. While barely any details have been released so far, we do know that there are a total of 26 courses that span across four worlds, as well as new characters such as Pac-Man. As with the recent trend, users will be able to bring in their memory cards and save their data.

Nacmo also took the liberty of installing one of it's newest ideas onto the Mario Kart cabinet; the appropriately titled 'Nam-Cam'. Rather than just the character's pictures in the rank boxes, you can now see your and your friends' covered by decals of the character they are playing as you race down the track. No real set release date has been announced for Japan, nor if this game will see light on the U.S. coastline, but be sure to check back to GamesAreFun for more information as it becomes available.

The game runs on the GameCube-based Tri-Force arcade board -αναμενομενο-, as co-engineered by Sega, Namco and Nintendo and features a NamCam 2 camera in a Daytona-esque throwback, as featured in Namco’s Race On some years ago.

A slow player catch-up mechanic is in operation, but may be switchable in time of release. Described as ‘Namco Rubber Band System’, rather than simply speeding up slower players, they receive a constant boost of speed depending how far they fall behind in the race compared against all others involved at the time.
